“To Hell With Babe Ruth”

You might have wondered about the veracity of the story that Japanese troops said this when fighting U.S. soldiers in the Pacific theater during World War II. This isn’t quite confirmation, but the below image of a snippet from Time magazine’s March 20, 1944 issue lends the story a fair amount of credibility.

  1. I somewhere can’t imagine ISIS (ISIL?) shouting “To Hell With Mike Trout!” at U.S. troops anywhere in the world. Just isn’t quite the same.

  2. Elsewhere on this blog, Babe Ruth talks to the New Yorker in March 1944 about the Japanese insulting him: https://miscbaseball.wordpress.com/2009/07/14/babe-ruth-on-the-japs-in-world-war-ii/

  3. This has to be the most amusing anti-America war cry ever invented. Hysterical!

  4. During the Vietnam War, if the gooks had shouted, “To hell with Cassius Clay!” our guys would have agreed. Draftdodging Muslim traitor.

  5. Pritzker, considering that the Vietnam War Was a colossal waste of money, lives, and resources (and that the United States lost the war), did it ever occur to you that Muhammad Ali (and many of the people-famous and ordinary-who were opposed to the war) were right? Also, the (North) Vietnamese most likely idolized Ali for his stance, and would never have said what you think that they’d say.

As usual, you warmongering neocon (Trumpanzee) chickenhawks get things (comically) wrong.

    Something for you to watch:
